What are oil seals?
An oil seal can have different types, including shaft seal, lip seal and rotary shaft seal, elastomeric lip seal or any variation of these. Oil seals are used to protect bearings and shafts from foreign matter, egress of oil or grease ingress of dirt. An oil seal consists of an inner flexible member that does the actual sealing bonded to the metal part by special chemical adhesive agents.
How do oil seals work?
The common radial oil seals work by creating a thin layer of oil between the rubber sealing lip and the shaft which results in the oil lifting the sealing lip clear of the shaft. A thin layer of oil produces a barrier and prevents leaks of oil through the sealing lip.
We maintain stock of thousands of these variations of oil seals. Contact us to know which variant suits your needs.
